War is over - By Florence Jenkins

Lily woke up and looked out of the window.  She ran straight downstairs and outside.  A parade was going down the street and people were cheering, laughing and hugging each other.  "War is over!", they shouted.  Lily didn't care.  All she wanted was her dad.  But later that day she did care.  When Lily was helping her mum feed the chickens the saw a man coming towards them from over the hill.  He was tall with messy hair, he had a sling wrapped around his left arm and his uniform was dirty.  As he came closer Lily saw the glint in his blue eyes.  The biggest smile crept across her face.  "Dad!".
