Climbing - Matthew Kimber

Jutting out the red hills, the mountain dominated everything around it, as intimidating as a monster. I stared at the hard rough surface wonderingly.  How was I to get to the top?
I climbed the first 10 metres with ease, but I got stuck. I knew what to afterwards, but what right now? Suddenly I noticed a single handhold nearby.  I grabbed at it; couldn’t reach.
I had to jump.
I braced myself, and leaped. Just, I grabbed it and pulled myself up, ready to carry on.
Three hours of hard work later, I reached the top of the mountain. Laughing, I took my umbrella and floated down.
“Whee!”
